Myoe Daung Abbay in Old Bagan

This is a masterpiece of wooden architecture and carvings.

Myanmar is very well know for buildings of wooden structures since hundreds of years mainly made from teak and rosewood. Unfortunately they burn down from time to time either when earthquakes hit, sometime because of war and all too often because of  carelessness.

Brick buildings started only about thousand years ago and today it's mainly reinforced concrete.
