Ruby and sapphire cabochon are very special gems
Because they are not clear enough for the usual jewelry they are cut and polished into bigger gems for different purposes, one of it is to create a star ruby or sapphire. Everything which is valid for the red stone is the same with the blue since both belong to the same corundum family, the only difference is the color as visible in the pictures.The color was created when different trace elements came into stone when it was formed under high pressure and with around 300 degree centigrade.
